The Nam Tok Khun Kon Forest Park is worth travelling to. It includes the Khun Kon waterfall which is some 70 metres high, the highest in the province. The park is about a 30km drive from Chiang Rai, with about a 30min walk to reach the waterfall after arrival.

Then there's the Baptistère Saint Jean, a rare witness to early Christianity in Europe with sections dating between 4C and 9C. Travel a few hundred metres down a side street from the Baptistère, and two more churches are within a stone's throw of each other. These are the 11C-15C église Sainte-Radegonde, and the église Saint-Hilaire, an 11C building.

Poitiers has been inhabited for over 2000 years, and history has left it's mark at each turn. Notre Dame La Grande is the centrepiece of the town, a Romanesque church dating to the 11-12C and located in the town's central square. All within walking distance, and not far from Notre Dame lies the Cathédrale Saint-Pierre, a 12-13C gothique monument.

Chenonceau is commonly referred to as 'The Château of Six Women', owing to the leading part its hostesses played there for 400 years.
These hostesses started with Bohier's wife, Katherine Briçonnet, who passed away in 1526. The château was later acquired by King Henri II, who gave it to his mistress Diane de Poitiers in 1547.

Le Lude - The best 'son et lumière' show this writer has had the pleasure of attending was at the Château du Lude, situated in the small town of Le Lude on the south bank of the Loir river, not far from the town of La Flèche. The son et lumière show, entitled 'Sumptuous Nights on the Banks of the Loir' (les glorieuses et fastueuses soirées au bord du Loir), is an unforgettable experience.

The Château de Blois has a rich history of intrigue, and different wings of the building were built over several centuries ranging from the Feudal period (13 C), to the Gothic-Renaissance transitional period (late 15, early 16 C), to the famous 'François I' wing built in the Renaissance period between 1515-1524, to the Gaston d'Orléans Wing constructed in the Classical period 1635-1638.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge:
Travel just 10 minutes from downtown Vancouver through Stanley Park and over Lions Gate Bridge to Capilano Road. Upon reaching the Capilano Canyon, you suddenly find yourself in a picturesque wilderness. This is the same wilderness that inspired George Grant Mackay so much that he built a cabin for himself and wife at the very spot where the bridge now stands.
